Canggulicious SOS.
Sorry for being off the last days – we had and still have a little SOS over here. Probably caused by the tropical heat that we are just not used to in combination with the water and the food. So Montezumas revenge alert. 😬 But we are brave ones and tried to make the best out of it… But starting with Monday first when everything was still alright. We spent our day at FINNS having a great and healthy breakfast there (maybe we eat too healthy???). FINNS is a beautiful beach club located at Canggu beach and the audience was quite easy. They have a great infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a pool bar where you can have your coconut (branded of course) while your butt is cooled in the pool 😀. So we had a lazy day here on our daybed as it was incredibly hot. In the evening the DJ turned up and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset at FINNS. For Dinner we went to famous KU DE TA in Seminyak – a beach club with a great restaurant told be one of the best in Bali. Well, I could not enjoy my food that much suddenly as you understand now and the waiter was kind of irritated when I ordered a camomile tea having evening temperatures of over 30 degrees. Anyway, KU DE TA is a place we can recommend. It is located in Seminyak – the more commercial and almost fully developed town probably hosting the most packaging tourists in South Bali. We saw Starbucks and this says it all. So again Canggu is still not there but probably will be in the next years unfortunately. As said Canggu offers a much more laidback lifestyle meaning it retains its local charm and is not completely overrun by tourism yet. Between the villas – the main accommodation mode here – you still see the rice fields with local farmers who still live from their little field. People are still very friendly and open, in Seminyak we found for example the taxi drivers already more aggressive than we experienced in the rest of Bali. But that is how it is. Showing you some pictures of the streets of Canggu you will see that the rubbish is of course a problem here but the island tries to fight back with plastic free initiatives that we saw a lot. The street arts reminds me on Mexican Tulum somehow. Contrasty to see this next to a rice field and cows on the street next to a super modern beach club. I would have taken more pictures but you cannot walk very well – first because of the heat (it did not rain since days although rainy season) and second because there is just no sidewalk, everyone is going by car or motor-roller. The Tuesday was lets say a relaxing and purificating 😬 half day in our villa and then we found a spa and massage to be a good idea for my maltreated body. So we went to Therapy Spa in Echo Beach – a spot that we can strongly recommend. We enjoyed a 2h pedicure and foot reflexology massage while drinking tea in a comfortably cooled and nice spa room. So I was feeling better afterwards somehow and we tried to have dinner at The LAWN, a very easy and chilling beach lounge (they call themselves) located at the beach of Canggu. It is beautifully furnished with a picnic style lounge area with the typical Balinese umbrellas (in white 😍) and straw mats that force you to relax. The food is really good, we had our dinner at the terrace overlooking the ocean and seeing another great pink-yellow-orange evening sky. Today (Wednesday) I feel a bit better but my dear travel mate Micky is suffering now. So we will look for a nice shadow place here in Canggulicous town. Keep you posted!
PS: Eco-Call: Please drink tab water if possible! Do not buy any bottled water – we are so privileged that we can drink our water. 🙏 And it would make our environment a bit better.
