Sundays in Uluwatur

Sundays and Uluwatur Dancing.

What better than hang out in Sundays on a Sunday? So we drove from Canggu to Ungasan to go to Sundays Beachclub for the day. Although only 35km away driving took us over one hour as the traffic was horrible again. Unbelievable. The new and first highway of Bali opened just one year ago. We were told that the traffic is like this until 2am in the morning! So everything you do you have to do early. Best time to start is between 8 and 9am. By sitting in the car we saw that Kuta, actually the most famous area in South Bali and well known in Europe, is already very American and touristic. Starbucks and KFC on the road. But cruising towards Ungasan it got more laid-back and natural again. This area is said to have the most beautiful beaches of Bali so a lot of 5* hotels have their resorts here as it is also very quiet. We landed in a wow!!! paradise, Sundays Beachclub – really one of the nicest ones I ever went to. The adventure begins when you go down the green cliff to the beach by a 2min cable car ride as this is the only access to it! Very special but so you overlook the ocean first and then land on a dreamy, quiet and hidden little paradise spot. White sand and turquoise water and a huge hut with a beautiful restaurant with Balinese interior. We wear told that Bali does not have these wow beaches but we found it! Look for yourself we pictured every corner 😍 of it.

After spending a couple of very affordable and delicous hours in Sundays we drove to Uluwatur to see one of the most beautiful temples of Bali: Pura Luhur. It belongs to one of the six key temples in Bali and is renowned for its magnificent on-top location at the edge of a steep cliff app. 70 meters above the sea. Yo enter the temple through a small forest where hundreds of monkeys live. We were told to be very careful with our belongings as they love sunglasses and iPhones. Pura Luhur is also known for its beautiful sunsets with direct views overlooking the Indian Ocean while watching the daily Kecak Dance Performances – a typical Balinese dance. So we booked us in and the sunset light views and so the colors of the dancers were really remarkable. Also beautiful to see that the dancing group – a lot of young men – really had fun in performing for us. That is something to mention here, people are so kind and friendly and they really really mean it. It is not only the Asian culture and behavior, we find that Balinese people are still so natural and real. After the sunset and having fun pictures with the dancers we headed to Jimbaran Beach to a place called Menega Café to have as said best seafood in that area. You sit directly on the beach eating freshly caught and grilled fine seafood. In total the whole thing was a bit too touristic for my taste but still the food and dining so close to the ocean was great! And very romantic (meow KJ). Good night from Bali!
